Job Summary

This posting will be used to fill 2 Student Worker Positions.

These positions support and assist professional staff during field season with sampling the ambient groundwater monitoring network, data entry, and report preparation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • College student enrolled in a natural science related program, such as geology, environmental science, earth science hydrology, or closely related program. Coursework in hydrology, geology, or environmental science should be completed or in progress.
  • (To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker you must be a student enrolled in an educational program or planning to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as student workers, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. As a student you must be enrolled in high school or in a post-secondary or graduate program. If a student is enrolled at a credit-granting institution he/she must carry at least six semester (nine quarter) credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, a student must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load shall be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.)
  • Class D driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with groundwater sampling techniques is preferred.
  • Additional coursework in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and statistics is desirable.

Physical Requirements

Must be physically able to safely perform field work associated with ground water monitoring. This will include the ability to drive a motor pool vehicle, and occasionally carry up to 50 lbs of equipment to well locations in the field. Should be capable of moderate physical exertion in summer weather conditions

Driver's License Requirements

A driver’s license is an essential function of this position. This requires possession of an unrestricted Class D Driver’s License. The job offer is contingent on confirmation of a valid driver’s license AND a satisfactory DLR check.

Requires a Class D Driver's License: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver's license. Operators may also tow vehicles/trailers as long as the gross combination weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds.
