Job Description |
Environmental Education Interns will
- Assist with teaching environmental education programs for audiences of all ages both on and off site. This includes leading small group hikes and outdoor activities for school groups and the general public.
- Receive training on the care and handling of live animal ambassadors for use during programs. These animals include a collection of reptiles and amphibians, a rabbit, insects and birds of prey.
- Be presented with opportunities to learn techniques for developing and evaluating programs, marketing programs and non-profit operations.
- Design and complete an individual project of their choice by the end of the internship.
- Receive feedback in the form of weekly check-ins with the Internship Coordinator and receive continued support to complete internship goals.
Qualifications
- A desire to pursue a career in environmental education.
- General knowledge of natural history
- An ability to relate well to a variety of ages and abilities, are self-motivated and reliable
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Hiring preference is given to junior or senior students who are pursuing a degree in a related field. Preferred degrees in Environmental Education, Biology, Zoology, Recreation, Elementary Education, Animal Science
