Job Description

About the Position

The Communications and Outreach Specialist will engage in and make stewardship opportunities accessible to our active members and under-served populations through targeted grant offerings and communication and learning initiatives that lead the MWMO’s watershed community to protect and improve the water and natural resources in the watershed.

This individual is the community liaison for the MWMO, networking and building relationships with community leaders, neighborhood groups, businesses, schools, religious institutions, and partner agencies to assess stewardship-related needs, and provide corresponding community learning and involvement opportunities.

About the Candidate

Must possess three years of relevant experience in outreach-related communications to targeted audiences and culturally diverse populations, community education programs and materials or environmental outreach, including experience related to program development and implementation.

Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Sciences, Training and Development, Communications, Water Resources or related fields and coursework with a water resource, ecological or environmental focus in conjunction with communications experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education/experience/professional licenses will be considered.

Skills the Candidate Should Demonstrate

  • Excellent verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced public speaking, facilitation, networking, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to coordinate and facilitate work teams.
  • Able to work successfully with considerable independence.
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $48,500–$74,600, depending on experience and qualifications, with a competitive benefits package.
