Blooming Heights Edible Schoolyard is a leader in the schoolyard garden movement in Minnesota and we are seeking an Agriculture Specialist who has deep horticulture knowledge, experience working with students of all ages (early childhood through adulthood), a passion for gardens as a place of learning and beauty, and a vision for how schoolyard gardens can be transformative in the lives of students.
The Agriculture Specialist will be responsible for all aspects of Blooming Heights: planning and implementing garden-related curriculum E-12, planning/planting/weeding/harvesting/cooking with students, making connections with the garden through classroom activities, and using a youth development approach to empower students to improve their health, nutrition, and community through gardening skills.
The Agriculture Specialist must be able to engage a wide range of students through hands-on activities. This position works throughout Columbia Heights Public Schools and involves collaborating with teachers, students, staff, and community groups.
Position details:
- 228 days a year
- 40 hours per week
- Salary depends on education and experience
- 1.0 FTE and benefits eligible
- Starting on or about 8/7/2023
