MAEE Partner River Keepers
Event Date 2020-09-14
Time: 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Description

Development and cultural practices have prevented natural regeneration of trees along the banks of the river. Planting trees in key areas along the Red creates a buffer to maintain riverbank stability, encourage the growth of native plants, improve water quality, and provide habitat for river wildlife.

Trees reduce air pollution, cool the atmosphere, prevent soil erosion ease the severity of floods and decrease maintenance costs of roads and parking areas.

Interested in Volunteering?
Volunteers are needed to plant trees and shrubs along the Red River. Planting native species along the Red River help stabilize banks and protect the water quality.

Volunteers help with digging holes, planting, mulching, and watering. A short training is held throughout the event. Snacks and water will be served while supplies last. Backup weather date is September 15.
