Learn about the Big Woods, Big Rivers during a weeklong course set in the heart of the biome.
Midway between the Twin Cities and Saint Cloud, the nature center at Wright County Parks’ Robert Ney Memorial Park Reserve will serve as our base for exploring the plants, animals, history, geology, hydrology and ecology of Minnesota’s deciduous forests and its waterways.
Through classroom presentations and field trips, you’ll develop skills to explore the natural world and share it with others.
This marks our eighth consecutive year at Robert Ney Memorial Park Reserve west of Monticello.
The course runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, through Friday, Aug. 14, and from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 15.
The schedule includes four short field trips plus one daylong outing in Wright County parks, Lake Maria State Park and at the confluence of the Clearwater and Mississippi rivers.
Participants will complete and present a group capstone project. Suggestions will be provided.
Master Naturalist volunteers remain active by volunteering 40 hours each year.
Bring your lunch. A microwave and small refrigerator are available.
